
Dimapur, Jan. 28 (EMN): Descendants of Rev. Yemhi organised the 4th Rev. Yemhi Tilimi Kuposhukulu (fellowship) on January 27 in Merhulietsa (Para-Medical) Colony with the NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, as the guest speaker on the theme ‘The house of the servant of God shall be blessed forever’ (2 Samuel 7:25-29).
Speaking on the importance of relationship, Rev. Zelhou stated that relation with God and between men was something that the forefathers treasured as their biggest wealth. He regretted that this relationship is gradually being replaced by technology, an update from the organisers stated.
He urged everyone to count their blessings so that those blessings are reflected through them. He further stated that the servants of God would be blessed forever if one is obedient, disciplined and walk in his path.
It mentioned that Rev. Yemhi, son of Khakhu Lazami and Yahunuo of Kohima village, was born between 1875-1880 and passed away on October 3, 1932. He was the first among the Sumis to be ordained in the year 1926.
Rev. Yemhi is survived by one son and seven daughters with many great-grand children. He served God and preached the gospel under the missionaries including Rev. and Mrs HB Dickson (1905-1908), Rev. and Mrs JE Tanquist (1912-1928), Rev. and Mrs BI Anderson (1928-1932).
The programme was chaired by Nivili Shohe, associate pastor of Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima, while the welcome note was delivered by Mhonthung Khuvung, and Hozheto Shikhu, additional chief engineer (Housing), greeted the congregation.
A song was presented by the host family, while the scripture was read by Khelito Phucho, associate women pastor of Lazami Baptist Church. Joshua Sumi, former MLA and chairman of RYTK, delivered the vote of thanks, and concluded with a benediction said by Khuwoto Tsuipu, former pastor of Lazami Baptist Church.
