KOHIMA — The Rev. Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation (RMLCF) organised its bi-annual fundraiser sales day at Old NST Bus Station in Kohima on Saturday.
Hundred per cent of the sale proceeds will go towards funding the treatment of cancer patients, according to the charitable organisation.
The sales day witnessed various stalls being put up including food items, vegetables and fruits, thrift clothes, flowers, cards, etc.
The RMLCF is a non-profit organisation established on Oct. 26, 2019, in memory of Lt. Rev. Moa Longchari, who was a cancer patient himself, with an aim to provide the best possible treatment and reduce cancer mortality rate in Nagaland, by providing financial assistance and counselling for the underprivileged and medically underserved individuals.
It was Longchari who suggested forming a society to help people who are in need of any kind of help for cancer treatment after witnessing the financial struggle of patients while he was undergoing treatment in the hospital.

He remembered Rev. Longchari, who had served as pastor of Baptist Mission Church, Kohima, for almost 20 years, as a man of God filled with the Holy Spirit and a powerful preacher.
“He is no longer with us and we would like to have this in his remembrance and what he desires to help people,” he said.
He also said that the fundraiser was a sort of awareness for the people to see that they are helping people as far as they could. Through the sales day, held every two years, people can also come to know why the organisation is doing it, he added.
Rutsa informed that many people who visited the stalls enquired about the event, with some coming forward to contribute in appreciation of the cause.
