Dimapur, Dec. 12 (EMN): The general secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Rev. Zelhou Keyho, dedicated and unveiled the plaque of the Nagaland Legislators’ chapel hall on December 11 at the Assembly Secretariat in Kohima.
A DIPR report stated that Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, in his address, stated that the chapel hall was a long-felt need to have a permanent worship place for the Nagaland Legislators’ Christian Fellowship (NLCF). Rio also stated that it was due to support and cooperation of all the legislators that the chapel has come to materialise.
Highlighting the details of the construction work, Rio said the site selection was done on October 21, 2021, and that the construction works, which started on November 1, 2021, was completed in 13 months.
While thanking all those involved in making this possible, Rio said the present society was divided and that the only platform to come together was through religion and as Christians. He, therefore, urged everyone to forgive one another and unite to work for peace in our land.
Delivering the Christmas greetings, the deputy chief minister, Yanthungo Patton, urged everyone to celebrate Christmas in the true Christian spirit by spreading the message of love, joy and peace, even to non-Christians.
Patton also appealed to every section of the society, irrespective of political affiliations and organizations, to keep aside their differences and to focus in bringing long-lasting peace and harmony in the state.
Sharing the Christmas message, Rev. Catherine Longkumer, said the advent of Christmas has “taught us how to walk faithfully throughout our life and the time of preparation for the arrival of Christ who would bring joy, love, and peace.”
Rev. Longkumer also stated that celebrating Christmas would mean nothing without knowing and realising Jesus Christ’ life, death, and resurrection. She exhorted the gathering that real joy comes from the heart that is connected with God, which is much deeper and richer through the spirit.
Songs were presented by the legislator band, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima and Nagaland Civil Service band.
Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, and the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, also shared Christmas greetings.
