- Appointment subject to pending PIL
- DIMAPUR — Nagaland government has appointed
retired District and Sessions Judge Nino Iralu as the state’s latest Lokayukta.

- In a corrigendum issued superseding an earlier notification,
Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam stated that the appointment was made by the governor
based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee constituted under the
Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 2017.
- As per the notification, Iralu will assume the post after
taking the oath of office and will carry out her duties as empowered under the
Act.
- The terms and conditions of her service will be governed by
Sections 5 and 7 of the Lokayukta Act, 2017. However, the appointment is
subject to the outcome of a pending case (PIL/1/2025) in the Gauhati High
Court’s Kohima Bench.
