DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima B Henok Buchem, has issued an order restricting the movement of commercial taxis in Kohima town as part of measures to streamline and improve traffic management.
As per the order, commercial taxis shall not be allowed to enter from Lower PWD Junction and exit from Middle Midland Junction near Oking Hospital between 9 am and 5 pm on all days, with immediate effect.
The DC informed that the order has been issued in the public interest and appealed to the general public to extend cooperation with the authorities for its successful implementation, a DIPR report stated.

In a separate order, the deputy commissioner has declared the stretch of road from Fira Hotel to Assamese Church under Jail Colony, Ward-19, as a ‘No Parking Zone’ with immediate effect.
The order was issued in view of rampant unauthorised parking of vehicles along the roadsides in Kohima town, which has been causing obstruction to the free movement of traffic.
The deputy commissioner who is also chairman of Regional Transport Authority, Kohima, notified that any vehicle found in violation of the directive shall be towed at the expense of the vehicle owners and further penalised under Section 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
