Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): While acknowledging the uniqueness of Naga culture and tradition, advisor of Printing and Stationery, H Haiying has called upon the public to respect the culture and tradition of other communities for a peaceful co-existence.
“Culture and tradition are made by God not by man, and if it is lost everything is lost,” said Haiying while speaking at celebration of Tsonglaknyi festival of the Tikhir community at IG Stadium, Meriema in Kohima district on October 12.
A DIPR report has quoted Haiying as saying that celebration of festival is a time to forgive and forget and pave the way for peace and prosperity to prevail in the land. He added that success and progress would come only through sincerity, humility and hard work.
The programme was chaired by T Asuthong, TUK treasurer, while a folk song “O ha ha ha Tsonglak akii” was presented by Kiuti Khia Tsinrechip. The significance of Tsonglakni festival was shared by TL Kiusümong, TUK executive member, and a short speech was delivered by Topan, president of Tikhir Tribal Organisation.
The vote of thanks was delivered by James Tikhir, TUK president.
