Midland colony in Kohima observes its 56th Midland Council Day, focusing on civic responsibility and community development.

DIMAPUR — The residents of Midland colony in Kohima observed the 56th Midland Council Day at the Midland Council Hall on October 2.
Speaking on the occasion, Midland Council Chairman Menuokholie Kire acknowledged the pioneers for their invaluable contributions in the formative year in 1970. Midland is one of the oldest and most peaceful colonies in Kohima town, he said.
According to an update, Kire expressed happiness over the clearance of a decade-old clogged cross drains problem along AKMWC (Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Council) Park (Box Cutting area) and Kohima War Cemetery, following a joint effort by the district administration, PWD (NH), Midland colony, and other stakeholders.
Stressing the need to develop civic sense, he urged the denizens to take greater responsibility for proper waste disposal. Kire thanked the Power department for taking necessary steps to install two power transformers in the colony and hoped that such development would immensely benefit the community.

Stating that the present team of the Midland Council will give top priority towards the welfare and progress of the community, he sought support and cooperation from the residents and well-wishers to meet the various challenges ahead. Further, he requested the residents to put forward constructive ideas and suggestions towards the common good and aspiration of the colony.
Also speaking on the occasion, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Councillor Kekhrieselhou Metha called upon the Midland community to maintain unity and collectively work for the welfare and all-round development of the colony.
He also called upon the community to help each other and maintain cordial relationships for a healthy and prosperous society.
Neikhonyü Sote, Head GB, spoke on behalf of the GBs and urged the residents to uphold the principle of unity and peaceful coexistence. He said that Wezulhi and Reikielie Metha were the first chairman and secretary, respectively, of the Midland Council.
Former president of Naga Mothers' Association Neidonuo Angami also exhorted the gathering.
Also, the Midland Council honoured three GBs, Neithonyü Sote (Lower Sector), Khriekedou (Middle Sector), and Obed Kent (Upper Sector), in recognition of their invaluable service and contributions rendered to the Midland community.
