Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): Water reservoir and toilets in Hongphoi was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Honje Konyak and Imnasangba SDO, PHED Mon, as chief guest and guest of honour respective on March 18.
The chief guest urged the community to take ownership and maintain the facilities being provided to them. Stressing on communitisation, he said water and sanitation, electricity, education and health committees need quality leadership at the community level. He further underlined the roles of village councils and village development board in village development. He also acknowledged the contributions of World Vision India Mon for the community.
Stating that our livelihood, economy and good health all depends on safe drinking water, the guest of honour urged upon the community to properly maintain the facilities provided by the government.
Dr. L Khobung, Manager Programme WVI Mon, exhorted the gathering while Temjen Sangtam, Coordinator, Development Facilitation WVI Mon and staff in- charge, made presentation on ‘Now and Then’ and highlighted the interventions of the organisation.
Tsalito Sangtam, Project Director, DRDA Mon, and SDEO Mon, also spoke during the programme.
While proposing vote of thanks, Chingnye Konyak, Chairman Village Council, said World Vision India Mon had provided 127 GI pipes with accessories and constructed a water reservoir with capacity of 15000 litres and 60 toilets for individual families. The same organisation also constructed 4 toilets and 4 urinals and hand washing stations with running water at Government Primary School-A and Government Middle School, he added.
The welcome address was delivered by Buwang Konyak, chief Angh, while invocation was pronounced by Rev. Phowang, pastor. The programme was organised by Hongphoi Village Council and Village Development Committee.
