Republic Day Speech of Niki Sumi
As we celebrate 45th Republic Day, our Nation pays solemn regards and salute to martyrs and patriots for selflessly defending our Nation.
- Greetings in the name of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ
on this glorious day of the celebration of Republic Day. As we celebrate 45th
Republic Day, our Nation pays solemn regards and salute to martyrs and patriots
for selflessly defending our Nation.
- Today, we celebrate Republic Day with mixed emotions as we
are proud at the thought that Nagas have kept the flame of our political
aspirations burning and yet at the same time saddened about the fragmentation
of our Naga society at every levels; with unity being sparsely spread and rare
in the fabric of today's Naga society.
- Despite the seemingly unsurmountable odds staked upon Naga's
political destiny, we have been defending and struggling for decades to shrug
off the foreign colonial yoke, yet it has always stayed out of our reach mainly
due to our disunity at crucial junctures in our political journey.
- In today's Naga society the word "Unity" is one of
the most widely abused word. Most Nagas are bored, annoyed, disappointed or at
the very least indifferent to the mention of unity but there is no other
substitute to achieve our political aspirations as the maxim goes "United
we stand, Divided we fall". Agree or disagree but there is no other way of
achieving our political objectives as a nation without unity.
- On the issue of Naga ancestral lands, NSCN/GPRN is clear
that any action of arbitrarily and unilaterally fencing any Naga-inhabited
areas is unacceptable.
- NSCN/GPRN steadlastly stands for unity of Naga Political
Groups along with the entire Naga populace to work towards achieving our
historical and political rights. Kuknalim.
