DIMAPUR — Various organisations marked Republic Day with social welfare initiatives and formal celebrations in Dimapur and Jalukie on January 26.
FoWMCN: Friends on Wheels Motorcycle Club Nagaland (FoWMCN), in collaboration with 9 Assam Rifles Jalukie, organised the “Ride With Pride – Vol V” bike rally, witnessing the participation of 237 riders, including female riders.
According to an update, riders from multiple motorcycle clubs across Nagaland, Karbi Anglong, and West Bengal came together under the motto “Driven by Youth, Powered by Speed”.

The event was supported by Bharat Petroleum and Xude and was attended by Brigadier Mayank Singh Janwal, DIG, HQ 6 Sector Assam Rifles, as the chief guest, along with Kamal Bilala Jain, Nagaland state treasurer, BJP and brand ambassador of the club.
The rally was flagged off at 7:20 am by Brigadier Mayank Singh Janwal.
The rally commenced from Clock Tower, Dimapur, and culminated at 9 Assam Rifles, Jalukie, where the riders were received by Assam Rifles jawans, NCC cadets, and locals. The occasion was marked by the unfurling of the national flag, followed by an address by Col. Mohit Bansal, 9 Assam Rifles.
Activities including tug of war, a slow bike race, traditional games, and the fittest rider competition were held on the occasion.
BAN: The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) visited the District Hospital Dimapur. During the visit, Dr. George, medical superintendent of the hospital, conducted a guided tour of the hospital premises and shared insights into its facilities.
In a gesture of community service, BAN installed a water filter for the benefit of patients, attendants, and visitors.
LCD Elite: The Lions Club of Dimapur (LCD) Elite organised a blood donation camp and awareness programme at the District Hospital Dimapur. The programme was conducted under the leadership of its president, Meena Sethi, and chairpersonship of Swati Jain.
Dr. Rongsen, MO in charge, Blood Centre, District Hospital Dimapur, spoke on the importance of blood donation, and Dr. Seyie, senior specialist, paediatrician, created awareness on haemophilia and thalassaemia.
Donors were honoured with certificates of appreciation, and blood pressure and haemoglobin check-ups were conducted. Flag hoisting was also held at the Lions Centre in the presence of members of various Lion Clubs of Dimapur.
VWF: The Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) celebrated the 77th Republic Day at the terrace of the VWF office building, Kalibari Road, Dimapur.
Niranjan Saha, founder, highlighted the constitutional importance and national significance of Republic Day. The national flag was unfurled by Ganesh Sharma, retired superintendent of Dimapur Municipal Council and advisor of the foundation, in the presence of senior advisor Bishnu Bhattacharjee.
Sharma emphasised moral values, cultural ethics, and responsible citizenship. Bhattacharjee spoke on national unity and the essence of unity in diversity.
Rita Singh, joint secretary and president of Mahila Patanjali, urged citizens to lead a disciplined and healthy life through yoga. Members of Mahila Patanjali participated in the event.
