Repoll at polling station No. 16 at Rusoma under Cheiphobozou sub-division in 11 Northern Angami II Assembly constituency was held today with 89.63% electorate exercising their franchise. The bye-poll in the constituency was held on October 15. The Election Commission of India ordered repoll in polling station No. 16 after the BJP filed a complaint with Kohima Returning Officer W Honje Konyak against the presiding officer of the polling station for allegedly allowing proxy voting in favour of NPF candidate.
Principal and CEO, West Bengal Human Rights Commission, Liama Chozah, who is the general observer for the bye-poll, visited the polling station and said the polling was conducted without any hindrance.
While master trainers of the bye- election were deployed as polling officials to conduct the poll smoothly, the repoll was held peacefully with no untoward incidents under the supervision of the Kohima district administration.
NPF candidate Neiphriezo Keditsu and BJP candidate Visasolie Lhoungu also visited the polling station. Out of 704 total voters in the polling station, 356 are males and 348 females.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner W. Honje Konyak, ADC Asangla Imti, SP Joseph Hesso and others officials visited the polling station to ensure that the repoll was carried out successfully.CRPF, IR Mahila, 13th IR and Nagaland Police beefed up security during the entire process of repoll.
