IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 25: Popular Manipuri rock musician Janet Waikhom passed away last night at his Wangmataba Sorok Mathak residence, about 30 km south of Imphal in Manipur’s Thoubal district, reports reaching here said.
Janet, who was a multifaceted singer cum song writer, have been associated with many social organisations and musicians when he was alive. He had contributed many well known Manipuri numbers such as ‘Lan pamde Eikhoi,’ ‘Khoithumlaba khonjelsira nanggi,’ ‘Changdamningai leitana phajarabai-Eigi thoibi’ etc.
“He was a song writer, singer, teacher and many more. He was a big fan of Megadeth,” says a fan in his facebook page.
Condoling the sudden demise of their member Janet, the Royal Riders Manipur, an adventurous Enfield (Bullet) motor cycle riders body in Imphal, observed a 2 minute silence at its Langol office near Imphal on Sunday.
The Thoubal based bodies namely Social Service and Welfare Association and Social Reformation Union also expressed shock and sorrow over the demise of the singer.
