Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): A students’ organisation from the Tseminyu subdivision of Kohima district have informed about a decision to go on a “non-local” verification drive in the group’s area. The verification is to check illegal immigrants and not to discriminate Indian citizens who have Inner Line Permit (ILP), the organisation stated in assurance.
The Rengma Students' Union issued on Wednesday a press release to the media informing about the proposed verification.
‘The Rengma students Union has notified that the first phase of non-local verification drive 2019 under Tseminyu subdivision will start from 5th August, till the 10th of this month at RSU office in Tseminyu from 10 am onwards,’ the organisation stated. The organisation assured that the exercise had the objective to ‘prevent the influx of illegal immigrants’ in Tseminyu jurisdiction and not to discriminate any Indian citizen possessing valid ILP.
The students’ group also appealed for cooperation from the authorities of the administration and has invited it to actively ‘converge with any progress in detecting and controlling the dangers posed by the influx.’
The organisation has informed all ‘non-local’ persons in the Tseminyu subdivision to come in person with their valid necessary documents such as a copy of the Inner Line Permit, Aadhaar card, voter’s ID, Pan Card, or driving license, valid trade license and recent two passport-size photographs.
Government servants and school teachers are exempted from the verification, the press release added.
