DIMAPUR — The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) conducted a series of surprise visits to various government departments under Tseminyu district from February 24 to March 6 with the objective of assessing the functioning of offices and the attendance of officers and staff entrusted with public service.
In a press release, the RSZ disclosed that during the course of the inspection, it was deeply shocked and disappointed to observe that in many departments, a large number of officers and staff were absent from their designated place of posting.
“In several instances, departmental offices were found to be completely closed with no responsible personnel present to attend to the needs of the public.

“Such an irresponsible attitude towards duty is highly condemnable and reflects a serious lapse in administrative accountability,” it stated.
The RSZ cautioned all officers and employees posted under Tseminyu district to remain sincere, responsible and regular in the discharge of their duties.
It went on to state that being posted in the district should not be misconstrued as an opportunity for prolonged absence or personal engagements elsewhere.
“Public offices are meant to serve the people and any negligence in this regard directly undermines the welfare and trust of the citizens,” it added.
The Rengma Selo Zi reminded all concerned that postings in the district were not meant to be treated as a holiday period or a vacation for personal work, but rather as a responsibility to serve the public with dedication and commitment.
It appealed to all departments functioning under the district to maintain discipline, ensure regular attendance, and extend the best possible services to the public.
“Further, the RSZ informs that a detailed report of the surprise visits will be submitted to the district administration of Tseminyu district for necessary review and appropriate course of action.
“The RSZ reiterates our continued commitment to safeguarding public interest and ensuring that government institutions function effectively for the welfare of the people,” the release added.
