Rengma Nagas mark 108 years of Christianity

EMN Dimapur, April 29 The Rengma Naga are commemorating the community’s more than a century of Christianity. The commemoration service marking the 108th anniversary (1907-2015) of the first Rengma convert, Lokhin Nsü, to Christianity was conducted in T Zisunyu village ground on 28th April 2015 with the theme “God’s faithfulness”. Zisunyu village is under Teseminyu sub-division under Kohima district, The significant commemoration was marked by holy communion to 126 newly-baptized children which was conducted by Rev. L Tsela, pastor of T Zisunyu Baptist Church.General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Rev. Dr. Kethozelho Keyho, was speaker of the service. He praised God for His faithfulness and said that 108 years ago, there was only one Christian from among the Rengma Naga. His name was Lokhin Nsü, the preacher said. Now there are thousands of Christians among the community, Rev. Dr. Kethozelho Keyho said. Even many more outreach missionary works has been successfully undertaken by the Rengma, he said. The speaker urged the Rengma community to continue to celebrate God’s faithfulness. During the event, commendation gifts were given to the descendants of the Christian pioneers of Rengma Naga community. The gathering was giving an outline of the history of the first Rengma convert to Christianity, Lokhin Nsü. He was converted to Christianity on 28th April 1907, a note from the organizers of the anniversary stated in a note issued to the media on Wednesday. A monolith to mark the completion of 108 years of Christianity for the community was unveiled during the commemoration by Rev. MK Loring, senior pastor of Sovima Baptist church. More than 2, 500 people attended the commemoration, the note from the organizers informed.
