- DIMAPUR — The
health sub-centre operating within the premises of Government Middle School
(GMS) Midland, Dimapur, is set to be vacated within three months.
- Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang,
announced this following a meeting held on Saturday. It was attended by the DC,
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU)
leaders, the chairman of School Management Committee, and Midland Colony
Council members.
- While interacting with media persons after the meeting, the
DC informed that they had decided to relocate the sub-centre within three
months. Dimapur district administration will initiate the relocation.
- When asked about the existence of two councils in Midland,
the DC responded that both councils had been urged to resolve the matter
internally; otherwise, the administration would intervene.
- Also queried about the 15th Finance Commission’s 2021-22
funds, which had allocated INR 28 lakh for upgrading the sub-centre under urban
development, wherein the utilisation certificate indicated that INR 19 lakh had
been accounted for, the DC stated that during the meeting CMO Dimapur had
informed that the said amount had not been utilised.
- The president of DNSU, Hinoto P Aomi, said that during the
meeting, Health department had raised concerns about the unavailability of
funds for relocating the sub-centre, and the DC had sought a three-month period
from the DNSU to find an alternative location.
- According to him, the DNSU accepted the request and also
asked for a written confirmation. He said that the DC had assured to take
personal initiative and dissolve the colony council if they failed to
cooperate.
- Also, Aomi expressed disappointment that no representatives
from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare had attended the meeting,
apart from the district CMO.
- Chairman of the School Management Committee, Munthin Newmai,
said that he had been urging the council to separate the school and the
dispensary to ensure their smooth functioning at different locations. However,
the issue has now escalated to this extent, he rued.
