The spiritual landscape of our town churches is crying out for revival. We’re navigating the complexities of modern life, armed with intellectual discourse and contemporary thinking, yet our spirits remain parched and unfulfilled. It’s time to reflect on the past, when our predecessors laboured tirelessly to spread the word of God, visiting households, offering prayers, and nurturing the faith of those around them.

Those devoted CONVENORS, who worked selflessly, often behind the scene, had set an exemplary standard. Their unwavering commitment to their flock, regardless of the weather or circumstances was testament to their love of God and to the community. They knew every household by name and visits brought warmth and comfort to those who felt lost and forgotten.

In contrast, our modern approach to faith often seems compartmentalised, with our spiritual lives relegated to a single hour on Sundays. We’re hungry for more but we struggle to find the nourishment we crave. Our churches are filled with educated, degree holding leaders, but do we have the spiritual depth and wisdom that truly touches hearts?

It’s time to seek our mentor who embody wisdom, compassion and faith who can walk along side us and share their insights, offering guidance and support on our spiritual path helping us cultivate a deeper sense of community, inspiring us to live out our values, particularly those on the fringes, who yearn for connection and hope.

The church leaders must reflect on what’s been lost- the passion, the committed, and the love for one another. Let’s focus on the lost, the broken and hungry souls, rather than fighting among ourselves, against the government or desperate for fame. You’re God’s chosen people called to bring hope and faith to those who yearn for it. So, let’s do our part, fulfilling our duties and play our role in reviving the spiritual hunger in our churches. As we strive for spiritual renewal let’s remember that it’s not about programs or projects but about people- people who are searching for meaning, purpose and connection.

Let us pray for divine reawakening, that our churches may become beacons of light in a world that desperately need guidance. May God bless us with wisdom to seek out true spiritual leaders, and may our collective faith be reignited, burning brightly for all to see. Let’s unite to rekindle the lost spirit where our souls have longing for so long.

May our churches become hubs of spiritual activity, radiating, love, hope and redemption to a world in desperate need. May we be the salt and light that God calls us to be, shining brightly in the darkness and drawing others to the love of Christ. Amen
