1. This is in reply to the statement issued by Mr. Noke Wangnao, (for short NW) Hon’ble MLA which appeared in the Local Dailies on 15th Aug. 2017 wherein my name was drag in gratuitously and irrelevantly.
2. I respect NW as a senior politician and a veteran regionalist however; it is too much on the part of NW to point finger at me and undermined me of ignorance about litigation while as I do job as a legal counsel apart from being a politician.
3. I do not wish to contest all his allegations against me but since it has been widely circulated in the social media, I thought it will be a subject of interest for those who have come across his statement if I can pen down a short lines just to thrill the ardent readers. Otherwise I am aware that the level of people’s understanding is not as poor as NW and hence they are neither convinced nor confuse by his statement.
4. I wish to remind NW that the days of Hitler are over. In other words, ‘Might is Right’ is no more applicable in this modern world. We are already in the age of ‘Right is Might’’ where only ‘Rule of Law’’ applies. I cannot blame NW because he belongs to an old school of thought that too without sufficient legal knowledge. The statement issued by NW is probably a draft copy. I termed it as a draft copy because there are in fact many portions in itself to be corrected before it were to be issued in the public domain.
5. I also wish to remind NW that I am not plaintiff in the present suit as assumed and alleged by NW. I am only one amongst the two counsels represented the plaintiff in the court. Therefore, the languages used in the statement were all erroneous. I wish he had taken ample time and more consultation made on the matter before it were being issued as people like NW needs proper guidance.
6. I must admit that indeed I am not of his contemporaries to challenge the wisdom of NW because if we are to go by Naga tradition, respect for our elder is one of the most valued treasured. However, since he has made a personal attack on my professional knowledge, I feel that he has gone beyond his brief and therefore he should try as far as possible to refrain from making such statements as an elderly man in near future. I also wish if he can address me as NPF Spokesperson and not so-called NPF Spokesman as the Constitution of the NPF empowers President NPF to appoint Spokesperson and that’s how I got the assignment legally and hence my designation cannot be termed “so-called”. In case of any clarification required either from your side or mine, l suggest that you may kindly address me as ‘’AK” and likewise I will also address you as “NK’’ so that we safe some space for others also. You have mentioned my name 6 times in your write-up which has almost occupied half of your statement.
Lastly, I want to advise NW to go through properly before signing any statement written by someone in his name.
