The destruction of liquor and drugs carried out on 26th May’14 was brought from the malkhana of the Supdt.of Excise, Dimapur District. The Destruction Committee was under the Chairmanship of the Dy.Commissioner of Excise(Hq). On the strength of the
Destruction Committee the destruction was done on 26.5.14 after inviting the Churches,
NGOs, District Administration, Police and Para Military forces.
The Destruction Certificate was signed by all the Committee Members after the destruction. And the concerned Superintendent of Excise, Dimapur and Destruction Board Chairman stated to the undersigned in front of the Media persons that there was no
Shortage in the Liquor brought for destruction.
During the Destruction programme held on 26/5/14; it was started by a Prayer by the Pastor after which the Chairman of the Destruction Board requested the NGOs present to speak or clarify on the issue but none of the NGOs came forward to speak on the counting or permission to count the liquor bottles.
The ACAUT members did not seek written permission from the Excise Department for counting of the liquor bottles. However they have counted at their own which does not tally with official report of the Destruction Committee. Therefore if there is any discrepancy after verification of the office records responsibility can be fixed on the officials concerned.
The verification by ACAUT members or any NGOs are most welcome by the Excise Department. However proper permission should be sought in writing after which a joint verification can be done.
