  • DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Defence has opened an online portal (sainikschoolsociety.in) for the registration of eligible and interested applicant schools, from May 15 to June 14, as part of the government’s initiative to set up 100 new Sainik schools in partnership with state governments, NGOs, and the private sector under the Sainik School Society.

  • An update stated that interested schools, trusts, NGOs, and others may visit the web portal for registration and seize this opportunity.

  • It mentioned that the Government of India's vision of setting up 100 new Sainik schools is not only to provide quality education to students in line with the National Education Policy and offer better career opportunities, including joining the Armed Forces, but also to provide an opportunity for state governments, NGOs, and the private sector to work hand in hand with the central government towards nation building.

  • Towards this, the Ministry of Defence has approved 86 private, NGO, and state government schools as new Sainik schools.

  • These new Sainik schools, besides their affiliation to respective education boards, will function under the aegis of the Sainik Schools Society and follow the rules and regulations for new Sainik schools in partnership mode prescribed by the society. In addition to their regular affiliated board curriculum, they will also provide education based on the Academic-Plus curriculum following the Sainik School pattern.
