EMN Dimapur, December 2 The inaugural program of the Regional Conference on National Health Priorities with special reference to the northeast was held at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur on November 30. Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya was the chief guest of the program. The event was organized by the NEZ and the department of Health, Government of Nagaland, under the Auspices of Environment Medical Association of India (EMA). Speaking during the occasion, the governor questioned that while ‘NASA has got about 30 percent of its staff that are Indians, why India is still lacking behind?’ He said that ‘we have brought our stance down though we were a thriving civilization always and had better knowledge of astronomy, literature, art and more since ancient times.’ ‘We still have the chance to be a super power of the world for the resources here are enormous and India has the highest population of youth,’ Acharya stated. In the context of the north east region, and Nagaland in particular, he said that the region had ‘enough resources for all its power needs, but it is the mindset that is letting us down.’ ‘Running away from problems is never a solution, rather we should face it,’ the governor said.
