Refresher training courses for ASHAs under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) were held in Tuensang and Kohima to enhance the skills and knowledge of urban ASHAs

DIMAPUR — Refresher training courses for ASHAs
under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) were held in Tuensang and Kohima
to enhance the skills and knowledge of urban ASHAs and members of the Mahila
Arogya Samiti (MAS) in various health aspects.
Tuensang: A two-day refresher training course was held at
the ECS office, Tuensang, on March 25 and 26.
According to an update, the monitoring and supervision teams
from DHFW Kohima, PM CP Chubala Pongen, State Consultant NUHM Aotemsu Ozukum,
and PM Planning Puni Kokhon were also present at the training.
The resource persons for the training were DIO (RCH and UIP)
Dr. Waulong Phom, DCM Putusola, CHO Ngounchung HWC Ayunhle, BAC Sadar Tuensang
Khumjula, and BAC Shamator Hantsula.
During the training, they were taught about the role of
ASHAs during UHND, pregnancy diagnosis, understanding LMP/EDD, the schedule and
components of ANC, danger signs during the ANC period, the role of ASHAs during
ANC, birth preparedness, tasks of ASHAs during PNC (HBNC), care of high-risk
babies, identifying danger signs, exclusive breastfeeding, role play on the
HBNC visit form, WIFS/Anaemia Mukt Bharat, re-orientation on Mahila Arogya
Samiti (MAS), deworming, RI micro plan, and ASHA registration and record
keeping.
The participants in the training were urban ASHAs and MAS
from each ward in Tuensang town.
Kohima: The two-day refresher training course was held on
March 24 and 25 at the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima district.
The training was attended by ASHAs based in Kohima urban
colonies. During the course of the training, they were imparted knowledge and
skills with a focus on maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases,
and other national health programmes.
It focused on skill development, combined with practical
sessions in various health aspects, which will enable the ASHAs to carry out
field activities effectively, especially during home visitations.
