
Resource persons and participants of the refresher training
on routine immunisation in Longleng town on March 17.
- DIMAPUR — With an
aim to equip healthcare workers with the skills in improving the efficiency of
immunisation services, a one-day refresher training on routine immunisation
(RI) for DPM, DCM, BPM, BAC, VCCM, vaccinators, nurses and BCG technicians was
held at the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO) in Longleng town
on March 17.
- An update from CMO stated that the resource persons were Dr.
Imtijungshi, DPO (RCH/UIP); Dr. James Phom, medical officer; Dr. Banglau Phom,
medical officer; and Christina, VCCM.
- It stated that Dr. Imtijungshi welcomed the participants and
introduced key concepts such as the importance and objectives of the routine
immunisation micro plan, HMIS review, measles and rubella (MR) elimination and
district current status of RI and the roles and responsibilities of healthcare
workers and community health officers (CHO).
- He stressed the need for proper documentation and pointed
out the need to address the existing gaps in the micro plan.
- The refresher training course included overview of RI micro
plan, strategies to improve RI, national immunisation schedule (NIS) on eVIN
and UVIN, cold chain and logistic management, management of immunisation
session, adverse event following immunisation (AEFI), vaccine-preventable
diseases, VPD surveillance, safe injection practices and waste disposal.
- It also dwelled on records, reports and using data for
action, communication plan and strategy partnering with communities to increase
coverage and discussion on FAQs.
- It concluded with discussion and wrap up on timelines for
completion of activities by all the participants.
