The latest political development in Nagaland state has exposed the true agenda of those elected leaders who are running the affairs of the state.
The good citizens of Nagaland are now ready to witness another serious oath of secrecy ceremony and this will be a record fifth pledge of the NPF-led government within a span of 5 years. Nowhere in other states in India will we find legislators so ready to read out the pledge again and again.
But what kind of oath are our elected leaders taking and is the oath different in Nagaland? Is it for good governance and welfare of the people or for their own vested interests? Or are they taking the oath to retain their portfolios so they can pocket more money meant for development? Is there anything mentioned in the oath that the MLAs, ministers or government will deduct 10% or 25% from all development funds and projects as personal commission or PARTY fund?
The political instabilities in the last 5 years are a direct result of our elected leaders who have reduced themselves to political prostitution by jumping from one camp/group to another for the sake of money or portfolio. Lots of money is involved whenever there is a leadership crisis within the NPF leaders and so many of our legislators are not concerned with the political instability as long as their pockets are also filled.
I wonder why there is not a single MLA among the 60 MLAs who has the moral courage and integrity to stand up and say enough is enough, let us not fool ourselves or the public anymore by saying we are working for development and public welfare whereas we are only concerned to make enough money for the next election.
All the 60 legislators should feel ashamed and resign en-masse as the publican no longer tolerate this ‘tamasha’ anymore.
In my personal opinion, for better governance and stability once a chief minister is popularly chosen or elected, he should be allowed to complete his full tenure. As far as possible, the same should apply to ministers.
To the public and especially the educated youths, I want to make this appeal that in the 2018 assembly election, let us all reject these selfish and senior politicians who only know how to play politics with money, let us replace them with leaders whose vision of politics and governance goes beyond money. Let us also give chance to the computer literate youth who are well versed in modern politics and governance to bring changes in our present corrupt political system.
