THE Cease Fire Supervisory Group (CFSG ) held its ninth meeting with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) held today at Police Complex, Chumukedima.
CFSG Supervisor NSCN-K Wangtin Naga talking to media persons after the meeting said that the meeting explored two issues one of extortion and the other the possession of arms.On the issue of extortion Wangtin Naga opined that while Nagas are paying tax, GOI terms it as ‘extortion’ which is not appropriate, and on the possession of arms he said it is for self protection.
However, according to the GOI this is a violation of Ceasefire ground rules.
Wangtin implored for Naga unity and for fratricidal killings to stop as acts are not serving the Naga issue instead delaying the solution which can only be of interest to the government in Delhi.
At the same time Wagntin said the NSCN-K has no issue with the GOI, on the contrary he stated that the outfit is prepared to hold a ‘Peace talk’ with the GOI if invited. The NSCN –K, said they would hold inclusive talks and that the talks will be of the Nagas.
Taking a dig at the ongoing ceasefire talks between the government of India and the NSCN (IM) , Wangtin described the talks as one between the GOI and the NSCN (IM). He was critical of the ‘Delhi talks’ in that it was not truly representative of the Naga polity.
Asked on the move of creating an umbrella Northeast militant outfit, Wangtin confirmed the same. The idea he admitted is in progress and the outfit would champion the cause of “Northeast people who have always been neglected by GOI”.
Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Chairman Lt General (Retd) NK Singh said the meeting advised the (NSCN-K) to stop carrying arms and threatening carrying of arms which he says are against the Ceasefire ground rules.
Meanwhile on being asked to state the outcome of the meeting, Mr. Singh replied that there was not much deliberation on the two major issues of extortion and arms wielding. But the CGMG Chairman today said the NSCN (K) been asked to stop ‘indulgences’ and that they are not to support any other militant group against India.
