Counting of votes to begin at 8 am on Mar. 3 across all districts and Pughoboto

Kohima, Mar. 2 (EMN): Re-polling in 12 polling stations spread across eight assembly constituencies in six districts, and fresh poll in Ladigarh along the Assam-Nagaland border on Mar. 2 were conducted peacefully, according to Nagaland's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Abhijit Sinha.
According to the CEO’s establishment, the percentage of Friday’s re-poll and the fresh poll totalled 73.05%. 7841 voters were reported to have exercised their adult franchise.
Counting of the votes will commence on Mar. 3 from 8 am onward in all the 11 districts and Pughoboto.
In Kohima, re-polling at polling station-29 Upper AG Colony at 9th Kohima town assembly constituency was held without any untoward incidents. 68.66% of 967 voters at the polling station was recorded till the end of the voting hour.
Tight security was enforced in the area while the colony's council and youth volunteers from the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) assisted in ensuring smooth conduct of the polling process. Webcasting with additional CCTVs were installed in the polling station for strict monitoring of the voting.
Kohima town AC is locked in a straight contest between Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s Dr. Neikesalie Kire and the Naga People's Front’s Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso. Both the candidates were present at the polling station during the event. The two had accused each other of electoral malpractice and had filed counter complaints against each another during the past two days. However, on the day of the election, they were seen sitting together congenially during the voting hours among the queuing voters.
