IMPHAL, March 10: Re-polling at 28 polling stations including 13 in Senapati district, 8 in Ukhrul district, 4 in Chandel, one each in Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal and Kamjong districts due to electoral malpractices during the last phase elections on Wednesday passed off peacefully on Friday.
The tentative voters turn out is 84 percent. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Kumar Dewangan said “But the figure will be changed once the polling parties reach the district headquarters.”
Around 89 percent voters cast their votes in the re-polling at 34 polling stations in three districts of Manipur on Thursday.Meanwhile, all has been set for the counting of votes for 60 assembly constituencies in Manipur across 33 counting halls located at 11 counting centres on Saturday. The counting will start tomorrow at 8 a.m.
“The counting will be covered live and will also cover the party wise, candidates etc,” says Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Kumar Dewangan of Manipur adding “The ceomanipur.nic.in website will also upload live counting for every round.”
Stating that restriction has been imposed in and around the counting centres while all the counting halls have been guarded by the central paramilitary personnel, he said clear picture will emerge by 12 noon.
Saturday’s counting will decide the fate of 268 candidates belonging to ruling Congress, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Trinamool Congress (TMC), National People’s Party (NPP), Naga People’s Front (NPF), left parties, Manipur National Democratic Front (MNDF) and others, including the current chief minister O Ibobi, PRJA's Irom Sharmila, Deputy CM Gaikhangam and BJP's Th Chaoba,Y Erabot and N Biren etc.
