Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has alleged the Department of Rural Development (RD) as one of the ‘dirtiest departments’ in the State which is embroiled in numerous backdoor appointments and rampant corruptions.
PSAN officials were astounded by the curt reply of the RD minister, CL John, on backdoor appointment, who reportedly said that “these were not 'backdoor' appointments but rather 'political' appointments which were normal and there was nothing wrong with it.”
PSAN has asked the meaning of ‘backdoor’ appointment if the so-called political appointments cannot be termed as 'backdoor' appointments. While stating that there are thousands of deserving educated unemployed Nagas burning the midnight oil and waiting for a fair chance at employment to public offices, PSAN claimed that there are arrogant politicians who think that government jobs are at their whims and fancies.
PSAN resented that such mindset runs among most of the politicians of today who run the ‘job bazaar’ in exchange for votes. PSAN seek to know the part/ article of the Constitution of India that provides for unabated, unethical, opaque and rampant backdoor appointment 'rights' to the ministers and bureaucrats.
PSAN also alleged that only 4 BDO posts have been requisitioned to NPSC despite clear replies on RTI proving the existence of vacancies ever since CL John took over the department. It said many have been occupied on 'backdoor' or 'political' contractual basis in contravention to Article 16 of the Constitution of India that provides for equal opportunities in the matter of employment to public office(s).
PSAN Media Cell has asked CL John to either come clean and justify his statements or apologise to the people of Nagaland.
