Kohima, Jan. 15 (EMN): It was a bitter-sweet day for the department of Rural Department as the officers and staff hosted a befitting farewell programme for its outgoing director Metsubo Jamir at the office conference hall on January 12.
Metsubo Jamir, who is leaving the department on voluntary retirement having served the department for 29 years, first started his career as an SSO (Soil) in 1983. He was later deputed to RD as assistant director in 1988 and absorbed by the department in 1989. He served in the capacity of director for 15 years after taking over the post in August 2002.
Speaking on the occasion, minister of RD & REPA, CL John congratulated the outgoing officer for his dedicated service to the rural people of Nagaland in his government career spanning over 29 years. Terming Jamir as a capable, efficient and a humble officer, he also lauded the outgoing director for maintaining good rapport with all his superiors and staff and all former RD ministers during his stint as the director.
He also urged upon everyone present to forgive and forget past mistakes and misunderstandings so as to receive God’s blessing on this auspicious occasion.
Secretary of RD, Kelei Zeliang, also extended his sincere gratitude for his immense contribution towards the betterment of the department as well as the rural people with his vast experience. Maintaining that retirement is a normal process for any government servant, he however expressed his happiness that he is retiring in good health and prayed that he will be in a better position following his voluntary retirement. Zeliang also sought for his help and guidance and appealed for his cooperation to the department even in the days to come.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Alemtemshi Jamir, retired chief secretary; Imlimeren Jamir, additional director (HOD), RD; K Neibou Sekhose, joint director; Thungjamo Odyuo, project director on behalf of DRDAs; Er. A Atu Imsong, BDO on behalf of BDOs; Neizeü, registrar on behalf of ministerial staff; and Vishito Sema, peon.
The farewell programme was chaired by the joint director Imnukshila Jamir, while the welcome address was delivered by joint director, Asangla T Aier. The programme commenced with a prayer by joint director Neizovonuo Visa and concluded with a vote of thanks by G Thong, deputy director.
The outgoing director was accompanied by his wife, children and a host of family members and friends.
