KOHIMA, JUNE 15 : Minister for PWD (Roads & Bridges), Y Vikheho Swu inaugurated 24 km Panso-Yakor village PWD road and Guest House at Panso under Noklak sub-division of Tuensang district on June 15.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister called upon the people of Noklak sub-division to shun their differences and maintain peaceful coexistence so as to achieve development and progress in the area, and also set an example of ‘unity is strength’ by living in harmony.
Swu also called upon the people to uphold their good traditional values and appealed to them to resolve social issues and that the tribal conflicts of the past should not continue any more.
Appreciating local MLA of the area and parliamentary secretary for Land Revenue, Village Guards & Women Resources Development, L Khumo for taking keen initiative in constructing the much needed Panso-Yakor PWD road for the area, Swu called upon the people to continue to extend their support to their MLA and also to the state government.
The politician also assured that the department will take up soiling and construction of cross drains along the newly constructed road.
In his address, medical minister P Longon also called upon the different tribes of the area to uphold unity. He said that even as there might be political differences during elections, they should leave such differences after the election process and focus more on development and progress.
Parliamentary secretary L Khumo called upon the landowners of area not to create hindrance in carrying forward developmental activities. He said that instead of submitting memorandums to the government, the landowners should step forward and donate their land so that government can bring about development. It is easier to demand for development, but the landowners should first be willing to part with their land and resolve not to create any problem, he said.
Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Krosu Rhetso who was also present, exhorted the gathering as well.
