Dimapur, Dec. 7 (EMN): Upset with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) over the slow pace of Dimapur-Kohima four-lane highway construction work, Governor RN Ravi is said to be taking up the matter with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

A Raj Bhavan press release on Monday informed that Ravi had reviewed the ongoing road projects in the state on December 5, at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan in Kohima.

“Chief Secretary J Alam, DGP T John Longkumer, senior officials of the state government and senior officials of NHIDCL were present. The governor was shocked and expressed serious displeasure to NHIDCL for not keeping their assurances on the progress of the Kohima-Dimapur four-lane Highway construction.

“Although the project was scheduled for completion in August 2019, even after 15 months of overshooting the deadline, the completion of the project is not in sight. This is despite the fact that the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari had taken interest in it and created an office of the regional director, NHIDCL at Kohima for speedy execution of the work,” it stated.

Ravi reminded the NHIDCL how the people of Nagaland have been suffering due to lack of their interests, it added.
