Kohima, Oct. 19 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland RN Ravi was inducted the chief patron of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides on October 19 in the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Ravi said that the scouting movement provides excellent opportunities to children and youths to acquire socially relevant values and skills. Today, he said, almost every country in the world has the presence of the scout and guide organisation.
“I have been made aware that Nagaland State Bharat Scout and Guides have been regularly organising various programmes and trainings, and also attending various national and regional programmes,” he commented.
Ravi was also informed that the state’s scouts and guides have produced 463 awardees of the Rajya Puraskar Award, and the Governor’s Award.
It was also said that Nagaland has produced a number of Rashtrapati Scouts and Guides at the national level, and two senior guides have participated in an international level, which is one among the five world centres for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
“I am happy with all these activities which aim to achieve the laudable aims of the mission of the movement,” he said. He wished that he “would like to see the movement become even more vibrant and strong in the days to come.”
Zale Neikha, the advisor for the Youth Resources and Sports department, also the president of Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides, informed that the state has approximately 5,000 scouts and guides enrolled as members.
