Ravens, Mistic Ballers, Kohima Chief and Angami Students’ Union Shillong have entered the last eight of the ongoing Challenger’s Cup Open Basketball Championship held at Kohima Local Ground. On their road to quarter finals, Ravens defeated Runumole by a scoreline of 41-20, while Mistic Ballers trounced Last Kings by 48-22.
In one of the most exciting match played today, Kohima Chief had a narrow win against Swashbuckler with a scoreline of 47-42.
In the last match which was played late at night, the visiting team from Meghalaya, Angami Students Union Shillong (ASUS) overpowered Skylarks by 43-27.
In women’s event which is conducted in a league basis, Phek District Basketball Association (PDBA) beat Untrodden by 12-2. Untrodden, who lost to the defending champs Venture Wings yesterday, have been knocked out of the tournament.Air Hogs, who lost to Unity Gals yesterday, have opened up their chances of entering the semifinals after they defeated New Orleans today by 12-7. However, their fate in the tournament will be decided when New Orleans will take on Unity Gals tomorrow.
The Challengers Cup is being organized by Air Hogs. The tournament will conclude on June 12, with the final match scheduled at 6:00 pm.
