Kohima, Oct. 18 (EMN): Principal District and Sessions Judge Kohima, YM Imchen passed an order of 10 years rigorous imprisonment to a rape accused on Oct. 17. The accused, identified as Dilip Mech, is said to be a truck driver from neighbouring Assam.Public prosecutor Kathu Rengma told reporters on Wednesday that Mech was accused of raping a minor girl of 14 years in April 2016 and a case was registered in Tseminyu police station. Following thorough investigation conducted by the police with sub inspector Vikuobeinuo as the investigating officer, he informed, a chargesheet was filed and a trial on the case was taken up on 3rd Oct. 2016.
After one year, the court pronounced its judgement, convicting the accused to 10 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs.5000.
