Mokokchung, June 14 (EMN): From the recommendation of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Mokokchung compensation of INR 1 lakh was given to the family of a minor girl on Thursday. The minor was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old man on June 10.
The five-year old girl was allegedly raped by one Limatoshi of Longsa village at Mongsenbai ward in Mokokchung town. The accused was arrested by the police and a complaint was registered against the alleged rapist under section-4 of the POCSO Act at Mokokchung Police Station-II.
According to a late press release from the Mokokchung district administration, the compensation was handed over by the additional deputy commissioner of Mokokchung W Manpai Phom to the victim’s father in the presence of leaders of the Mongsenyimti Senso Telongjem of Mokokchung and the Watsu Mungdang; and a retainer lawyer; and an ASI from the Mokokchung police superintendent's office.
The victim received the compensation in accordance with the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme of 2012, Schedule-I, the statement added.
