Pondicherry win by an innings and 95 runs in Nayudu Trophy

Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): The four-day Test match between Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy (2019-20) plate group ended in a draw on Tuesday at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur.

An update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) informed that Nagaland declared their second innings at 259 runs in 62 overs on the fourth and final day of the match. Takawale (73 runs), SS Mundhe (62 runs), Hokaito (40 runs), Jonathan (38 runs), and Nagaho (29 runs) were the main contributors for the state, while Akhilesh took three wickets and Techi Neri two for Arunachal Pradesh.

Put to bat again for their second innings, Arunachal Pradesh managed to hang on for a draw, scoring 152 runs in 35 overs for loss of four wickets. Rahul scored 36 runs and Doria scored 33 runs for Arunachal Pradesh, while Imliwati took two wickets for Nagaland, and Tahmeed and Bohoto took a wicket apiece.

Earlier in the first innings, Nagaland declared at 534 runs for loss of seven wickets with SS Mundhe scoring 166 runs, Takawale 117, Hokaito 76, Sedezhalie 53 and Jonathan 49.

Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for 460 runs in 118.5 overs in their first innings. Rahul scored 267 runs, Akhilesh 65 and Doria 27 for Arunachal Pradesh in the innings while Nagaland’s attack was led by Imliwati with five wickets, SS Mundhe four and Tahmeed one.

Nagaland will next take on Bihar at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur from January 19 to the 22nd.

Nayudu Trophy

Pondicherry defeated Nagaland by an innings and 95 runs in their Col C K Nayudu Trophy (2019-20) encounter at Golaghat DSA Ground, Golaghat on Tuesday. The four-day Test match ended on the second day after Nagaland’s batting line-up collapsed in both the innings.

Resuming their first innings on Tuesday, Pondicherry put up a total of 386 runs (all out) in 81.5 overs with Paras scoring 159 runs, Manikandan 51 and Akash 45, informed an update from NCA. Akavi took four wickets, A Yadav three and Aneizo two for Nagaland but their opponents had already taken a huge lead.

After collapsing for just 145 runs in the first innings, Nagaland failed again in the second outing, scoring only 146 runs (all out) in 42 overs. Nikhil scored 41 runs, while Wahid and Joshua scored 15 runs each for Nagaland. Sidak Singh took six wickets and Akash three for Pondicherry to convincingly win the match by an innings and 95 runs.
