observance of the 110th birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu at Burma Camp,
Dimapur.
- DIMAPUR — The
110th birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu, a freedom fighter of India and
recipient of numerous prestigious awards, was observed on Sunday at the
Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs) Liaison Office, Tarung (Imphal), and in
Dimapur.
- According to an update, the observance function in Imphal
was attended by leaders of ZCOs, who highlighted her contribution to the
freedom movement and the struggle to free India from the yoke of colonial
rulers.
- The speakers discussed India's recognition and the honours
accorded to Gaidinliu in various forms, which were acknowledged with gratitude
by the Zeliangrong people.
- The speakers also called on the government of India and the
Manipur state government to expedite and complete the museum-cum-library
project, planned to be set up in Tamenglong district in honour of the freedom
fighter.
- In Nagaland, the Rongmei Women Organisation Dimapur observed
the day at the the Rongmei Customary Court, Chungaizaeng Rongmei Colony, Burma
Camp.
