Randeep Hooda urges peace and harmony in Manipur during a meeting with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in Imphal
IMPHAL — Bollywood actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda has appealed for peace in Manipur, urging all communities to come together as one human family and embrace peace, harmony and compassion.
Hooda, accompanied by his wife, actor Lin Laishram, met Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and his wife Joymala at the chief minister's official residence in Imphal on Thursday.
During the meeting, Hooda congratulated Khemchand Singh on assuming office as chief minister despite the challenging law and order situation in the state, according to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Acknowledging the challenges of taking charge during a difficult period, Khemchand expressed confidence that normalcy would be restored soon. Referring to his recent peace initiative in Jiribam district, he said the trust deficit among communities there had narrowed and that people were once again living together peacefully.
Describing the loss of lives and damage to property during the conflict as deeply unfortunate, the chief minister said the government was extending all possible support to safeguard the lives of the people. He appealed to all communities to support the ongoing peace process and help restore harmony and foster a cohesive environment.
Later, sharing photographs of the meeting on X, Khemchand posted: "It was a pleasure to welcome Shri @RandeepHooda and Smt. Lin Laishram to my official residence today. We had a meaningful interaction on Manipur's rich cultural heritage, cinema, tourism, and the immense potential of our creative industries. Shri Hooda also shared a heartfelt message of peace, expressing hope for lasting harmony, unity, and progress in Manipur. My best wishes to both for their continued success."
