Some of the important issues in the memorandum include, that, Wokha district which is referred as the “Land of Plenty” has been at the receiving end of illegal activities and perpetrators in the recent past which are very unfortunate and need immediate intervention of the government for thorough probe by central investigating agency.
Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho has strongly condemned the bomb blasts which took place in Dimapur and in Wokha on March 25 and 26 respectively injuring innocent lives. The Hoho at the same time condemns the firing incident that took place at Kohima IG Stadium where four personnel of the 19th Assam Rifles were injured.
A release issued through its communication cell, the Naga Hoho appealed all Nagas to abstain from such ugly and unwanted situations.
The Naga Hoho then reiterated its stand to maintain peace and tranquility in the region while also offering prayers and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Urging the law enforcing agencies to be more vigil and deliver its investigation report at the earliest, the Naga Hoho appealed to all concern to adhere strictly to the cease fire ground rules.
NTC: Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) vehemently condemned the bomb blast saying the innocent victims were crippled for life.
Stating that such mindless and barbarous act is alien to Naga culture, NTC urged upon those ‘sadists’ to shun violence for the sake of people’s survival.
“The State of Nagaland was created not to go on entertaining violence in the form of bomb blast, indiscriminate firing and arson resulting to loss of innocent lives and damage of public properties. Those who engineers and causes such violence are no other than sadistic elements whose sole objective is to create terror for realizing their selfish ends. The anti-people elements are bereft of sense of love and patriotism apart from enjoying at the suffering of others,” said a statement issued by Media Cell, NTC.
The NTC appealed to all to refrain from ‘polluting’ the atmosphere with reckless and senseless activities causing tension and insecurity in the minds of the peace loving people of Nagaland.
NMA: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has expressed shock and dismay at the series of violent incidents taking place in the state and condemned in strongest term the ‘senseless act of evils’ that have no justification.
While condemning the bomb blast in Wokha where civilians including three women and a child were injured, NMA demanded the administration to seriously probe into the crimes and bring the culprits to book.
“This kind of repeated attacks on civilians, particularly women and children is a crime against humanity,” said a statement issued by NMA.
The Association also condemned the attack of unarmed security personnel of the 19 Assam Rifles, in Kohima, near I.G. Stadium by unidentified miscreants, saying creating such situation is uncalled for.
While condemning the attack in the strongest term, the association wished for speedy recovery of the injured Assam Rifle jawans and those injured in the bomb explosion in Wokha.
NMA also sought immediate attention of the State government to make stringent laws of using unauthorized arms and bombs and to swiftly investigate the attacks and ensure that those responsible be held accountable in consonance with law.
The Association also appealed to the Naga political groups for commitment, respect and understanding between the factions to resolve the Naga political issue.
“As mothers we want peace to prevail in our land and we must recognize that every person has the right to live in peace and security.”
