DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28
THE Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) under the aegis of Lotha Youth Hoho, Lotha frontal organizations and local bodies of Wokha town will hold a public rally against what it called ‘anti-people issues’ of the State government in Wokha town at 10 am on September 30.
The media cell of NTC, in a release today, said the rally is being organized in continuation with its mission to reach out to the people of Nagaland at the grassroots levels on the ‘anti-people issues’ of the State government such as Rongmei tribe recognition, Nagaland Special Development Zone (NSDZ) and other related current issues.
The rally will be addressed by leaders from various Naga tribes of Nagaland with ‘outmost objectivity’ to take all sections of the people on board on the crucial issues confronting the sons of the soil, the release said.
“There is an urgent call to all the Nagas of Nagaland to rise on the occasion and to take responsibilities to decide its own destiny,” the NTC said.
The NTC said it is deeply upset by the State government’s attitude to adamantly proceed with their anti-people agenda despite the people’s outcry against the decisions. “However, no amount of consultations or forces to impose its decisions on the people will subdue the voices and aspirations of the people,” it asserted.
The NTC therefore appealed all the Nagas of Nagaland particularly the citizens of Wokha district to attend the rally and exert their voice for posterity.
Lotha Youth Hoho president Phyochamo Ngullie and press secretary Thungdemo Kyong also informed that a joint protest rally is being organized by the Lotha Youth Hoho, Wokha District Village Council Chairmen Association, Kyong Students’ Union, ACAUT Wokha unit, All Commercial Vehicles Association, Wokha Town Colonies Chairmen Union, Kyong Eloe Hoho, Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Ralan Area Lotha Hoho and the Nagaland Tribes Council in Wokha town at 10 am on September 30.
“The rally has been organized in order to show our resentment democratically to the state government,” the LYH said in a release and requested all the public to cooperate so that the legitimate rights of the people can continue to be protected.
In this connection, the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industries has asked the entire business houses to keep their shutters down from 9am till the rally is over. The All Commercial Vehicles Association has also asked its members to stop plying all commercial vehicles until the public rally is over.
