Dimapur, Dec.18: Governor of Nagaland, P.B. Acharya speaking on the occasion of Pre-Christmas celebration held at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on December 15, said such kind of gathering as one family is a great event.
As India is a democratic country, with people belonging to different religions, he said attending Church, going to Temple or going to the Mosque is important. However, governor also said if one does not follow the principles of religion, religion in a way is not religion at all. He also added that to become a true religious person depends upon himself.
Governor said one should do good deeds by loving, sharing, giving, and lending a helping hand to the needy people as we celebrate Christmas. Further he wished the congregation a Merry Christmas and advance happy New Year.
In a similar programme, Merhulietsa colony Kohima celebrated pre-Christmas on December 17 at colony Taxi stand with pastor Sentisashi Aier as the speaker.Delivering the Christmas message, pastor Aier shared how Jesus was born and came to this world with the purpose to save the sinners. He reminded gathering that though He was the son of God, born in a humble manger without proper place and cloth but became very important historic event, showing the love of Christ for the humanity.
Pastor challenged the gathering with a message to love, to forgive and live according to God’s will. He also said when one have Christ and right relationship with God in life he or she will be a different person.
The celebration witnessed numbers of Christmas songs from Angami Church, Ao Baptist Church youth, Sumi Baptist Church, Sumi SABCK Merhulietsa Fellowship and Nagamese Fellowship.
The programme was led by Ketu Viluo, invocation prayer was said by Alito V. Swu, women pastor SABCK, Christmas greetings was delivered by secretary of Merhulietsa colony panchayat, scripture reading by Meribeni Humtsoe, while vote of thanks was proposed by president Merhulietsa Youth Organization.
Solo competition was also conducted to mark the occasion. Vikoneino Medoze bagged the first prize, Chietonii Hibo, Neisevinuo Khezhie and Mariiphro in second, third and fourth prize respectively.
