India Meteorological Department forecasts a week-long spell of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across Nagaland districts in the coming days.

DIMAPUR — Unsettled weather is set to sweep across Nagaland this week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several districts over the next few days.
According to the IMD, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over East Bangladesh and adjoining areas, extending up to the lower tropospheric levels.
A trough aloft also runs roughly along longitude 90°E, north of latitude 24°N, spanning from the lower to upper tropospheric levels.
Under its influence, Northeast India is expected to experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–50 kmph.
These conditions are likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on March 22, while thunderstorms and lightning are expected to persist across the region over the next five days.

As per the district-wise forecast for Nagaland, on March 23, isolated rainfall and thundershowers are likely over Peren, Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Kiphire, Longleng, and Mon, while Kohima, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, and Tuensang are expected to receive scattered rainfall with a higher likelihood of thundershowers.
On March 24, scattered rainfall with likely thundershowers is expected in Peren, Kohima, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang, while isolated rainfall is likely over Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, and Kiphire.
On March 25, isolated rainfall and thundershowers are likely in Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Mon, and Tuensang. However, Wokha, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Mokokchung, and Longleng are expected to experience mostly dry weather.
A similar pattern is expected on March 26, with isolated rainfall likely over Peren, Dimapur, Phek, Kiphire, Mon, and Tuensang, while Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, and Longleng are likely to remain dry.
On March 27, scattered rainfall with thundershowers is expected in Peren, Kohima, Zunheboto, and Tuensang, while isolated rainfall is likely over Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon.
On March 28, scattered rainfall and very likely thundershowers are expected in Peren, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Kiphire, and Tuensang, while isolated rainfall is likely over Dimapur, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon.
For Kohima, temperatures are expected to range between 13°C (minimum) and 20°C (maximum), while in Dimapur, the temperature on March 23 may range between 19°C (minimum) and 27°C (maximum).
