Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): A cyclonic circulation over Arunachal Pradesh is likely to bring wet weather conditions over northeast India. The The Weather Channel (TWC) met team has forecast the possibility of widespread heavy rainfall with thunderstorms over Arunachal Pradesh. Snow may mix in at higher reaches. Similarly, isolated rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal and Odisha. Moreover thundery activities in northeast India may intensify through this week in response to stronger wind convergence in the area.
Southern India will experience wet weather conditions as well, owing to the prevailing wind convergence. Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are likely to experience isolated rainfall and thunderstorms. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will also experience scattered rainfall.
No significant weather activity in north India is expected except for isolated rainfall in the hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rest of the country will experience dry weather conditions. Maximum temperatures of 45°C or more will be seen over Andhra Pradesh. Similarly, other regions like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu will also witness temperatures rising beyond 40°C.
Meanwhile, air quality will be poor or very poor across the country, especially in major cities like Delhi.
The prevailing weather conditions over north east India is likely to cause very heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds over Arunachal Pradesh. Scattered rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya. Isolated rain with thunderstorms and gusty wind will be seen over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, and West Bengal. Snow may mix in over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
