Dimapur, Aug. 29 (EMN): The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), has reported damage to fishery ponds and paddy fields and crops following incessant rains in Jalukie town in Peren district.
The IPR gave updates on Thursday informing about the damage from the monsoon.
“Due to incessant rain on 27th August, 2019 midnight, six fishery ponds belonging to Haizin, Mongzeung and Hailamsong of Veterinary colony, Jalukie town has been partially damaged,” the IPR stated.
“Along with the fishery ponds, heavy rainfall also caused wreckage to paddy field and some cash crop plantation around the fishery ponds were also completely washed off.”
The IPR reported that out of a total of 45 acres of land, approximately 15 acres of the land were affected. The damaged fishery ponds had fingerlings bought from various agencies worth INR 1.5 lac, the IPR reported.
