Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): Light to moderate rainfall activity is ‘very likely’ over Nagaland in the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.
Light to moderate scattered/fairly widespread rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next five days with isolated thunderstorm/lightning over the region during March 23 to 26, report from the department stated.
Except for Dimapur, Zunheboto and Kiphire districts, isolated rainfall is likely over Peren, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, and Mon on a scale of 1-25 on March 24.
On March 25, scattered rainfall on a scale of 26-50 is likely over Wokha, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng, and Mon; and isolated rainfall on a scale of 1-25 is likely over Dimapur, Peren, Phek and Zunheboto while Kiphire is would likely to remain dry, it stated.
As per the report for March 26, Kiphire and Peren will continue to remain dry while isolated rainfall is likely over Dimapur and Zunheboto; scattered rainfall is expected over Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Longleng and Mon.
Heat wave conditions, it reported, were likely to commence over Gujarat from March 25 while the maximum temperatures would be above normal by 4-6⁰C at most places over Assam and Meghalaya.
In Nagaland, the temperature in Dimapur district has continued to remain at the maximum of 36 since March 20 till March 23.
According to the Nagaland Soil and Conservation department, the temperature in Dimapur recorded on Wednesday (March 23) was 36 with minimum temperature of 22 and relative humidity at 90.
On March 20 it reported maximum temperature of 36.4, minimum at 21.2 and relative humidity at 92; on March 21 it reported maximum temperature of 36, minimum at 20 and relative humidity at 90; and on March 22 the maximum temperature reported was 36.1, minimum was at 21.3 and relative humidity at 92.
