Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): The Northeast region is likely to experience fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm or lightning over the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department on Thursday.
The department stated that fairly widespread/widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and scattered/fairly widespread rainfall over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on April 30 and over Assam and Meghalaya during April 30-May 2.
This is due to the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast states at lower tropospheric levels, IMD stated.
On April 29, isolated rainfall is expected over Dimapur, Wokha, Phek and Zunheboto; scattered rainfall over Peren, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon and Longleng; with no rainfall in Kiphire.
Dimapur, Phek, Zunheboto, Wokha, and Kiphire will continue to experience isolated rainfall on April 30 while Peren, Kohima, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang are expected to experience scattered rainfall.
On May 1, Wokha and Kiphire will remain dry as per the report while Dimapur, Phek and Zunheboto will witness isolated rainfall. Scattered rainfall will continue over Kohima, Peren, Mokokchung, Longleng, Tuensang and Mon.
While on the other hand, heat wave conditions over Northwest and central India are likely to continue during the next five days and over east India during next three days, and subside thereafter.
