DIMAPUR — Raindrops School marked its 8th annual day on Monday at Viola colony in Dimapur, with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang as the chief guest of the event.
In his address, the deputy commissioner urged parents to support the management, faculty, and their children’s upbringing, stressing that education starts at home and is a shared responsibility between teachers and families. Dr. Chang emphasised that parents play a crucial role in shaping their child’s values and character at home, noting that teaching young minds is challenging — even kindergarten teachers work hard to nurture them.
Education, he stressed, extends beyond academics, with extracurricular activities playing a vital role as well.
Citing a study, he pointed out that 75 % of knowledge stems from extracurricular activities, while only 25 % comes from academic textbooks.

The DC urged parents to prioritise investing in their children’s education, sharing from his experience that while material wealth can be momentary, investing in a child’s future yields lasting returns.
He recalled that his father chose to invest in his education rather than buying land or building, and that choice proved fruitful.
The DC emphasised that children will be the future, noting that despite diverse backgrounds, education offers equal opportunity and that, unlike outward differences, education does not discriminate.
The bureaucrat affirmed that nurturing a child is a collective responsibility, expressing hope that the school will continue to advance and inspire students to reach greater heights.
