Dimapur, Jan. 28 (EMN): There will be wet spell over Nagaland and some neighbouring north-eastern states from February 2 to the 4th, according to the India Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The weather forecast stated that Nagaland will experience isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall on January 31 and February 1 and isolated thunderstorm/lightning in the following 24 hours.
‘Also, due to confluence between westerlies and easterlies at lower tropospheric levels, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated hailstorms likely over Nagaland and other north-eastern states of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on February 4 and the 5th,’ it was informed.
There will be no significant change in minimum temperature over the Northeast during the next three days but a rise by 2-4°C is expected thereafter. Dense fog condition in isolated pockets at night and morning hours very likely in Nagaland during the next 48 hours and abate thereafter, it predicted.
On January 28, as per the soil and water conservation department, Kohima reported maximum temperature of 14°C and minimum of 5.8°C; Kiphire recorded maximum temperature of 15°C and maximum 8°C; Zunheboto recorded maximum temperature of 10.5°C and minimum 4.6°C; while maximum temperature of 23.4°C and minimum 11.4°C was recorded in Dimapur.
It went on to inform that Tuensang recorded maximum temperature of 16°C and minimum 13°C; Jakukie recorded maximum temperature of 20°C and minimum 10°C; Mangkolemba saw maximum temperature of 20°C and minimum 12.6°C; Tseminyu reported maximum temperature of 14.2°C and minimum 8°C; Sechü Zubza saw maximum temperature of 15°C and minimum 5.5°C; Mokokchung saw maximum temperature of 15°C and minimum 7°C; and the maximum temperature in Phek was 9°C and minimum temperature 6°C.
