NSDMA forecasts rain and thunderstorms across Nagaland till August 14, warning residents about floods, flash floods and landslides
DIMAPUR — Nagaland is likely to see continued rain and thunderstorms across several districts from August 11 to 14, with the Nagaland Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) cautioning residents in vulnerable areas against possible flooding, flash floods, waterlogging and landslides.
According to the latest district-wise weather outlook issued by NSDMA, scattered light rain and localised thunderstorms with lightning are expected across parts of the state on August 11 and 12.
On August 12, Dimapur and Longleng may receive light to moderate rain at scattered locations, while thunderstorm and lightning activity is likely in Kiphire, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu and Wokha.
Light to moderate rain is likely at scattered locations on August 13, with thunderstorms and lightning forecast in Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Wokha.
Similar conditions are expected on August 14, with thunderstorms and light to moderate rain likely in Longleng, Mokokchung, Tseminyu, Wokha and Mon. Other parts of the state may also receive light rain.
In view of the forecast, NSDMA has advised residents of low-lying, foothill and riverine areas to remain alert for possible flooding, waterlogging, flash floods and landslides.
