Railways approves 37 new train stoppages across Northeast Frontier Railway, improving connectivity and convenience for passengers in Assam, West Bengal.

DIMAPUR — The Union Ministry of Railways has approved 37 new stoppages for express and passenger trains across the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone, fulfilling long-pending demands and enhancing passenger convenience.


In Assam’s Dima Hasao district, the Agartala–Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani Express will now halt at New Haflong station, while the Rangiya–Silchar–Rangiya Express will stop at New Harangajao station. Other approved halts include Kokrajhar for the Dibrugarh–Lalagarh Express, and Senchoa Junction for the Tambaram–Silghat Town Express and Alipurduar–Silghat Town Express.


In lower Assam, Goalpara Town station has been granted stoppages for the Kolkata–Silghat Town Express and the Ranchi–Kamakhya Express, while Sorbhog station will now serve the Delhi–Kamakhya Express and the Tambaram–New Tinsukia Express. Basugaon has been added for the Sealdah–Sabroom Express, and Agomoni for the Alipurduar–Silghat Town Express.

In the Barak Valley, Kayasthagram station has received approval for the Agartala–Silchar Express, while Katakhal Junction will now host halts for the Guwahati–Silchar Express.


Several stations in West Bengal have also been included. Azamnagar Road will now serve three Sealdah-originating services — Sealdah–Alipurduar Express, Sealdah–Sabroom Express, and Sealdah–Silchar Express. Stoppages have also been approved at Kumedpur, Sudhani, Taiabpur, and Telta for the Katihar–Siliguri Town Express and other long-distance trains. Additionally, Old Malda and Rautara will now be served by DEMU and express trains, strengthening regional and local connectivity.


According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, the move is aimed at providing greater convenience to passengers across Assam, West Bengal, and the Northeast.
